Checkers is a classic two-player board game played on an 8×8 board.
Jump over your opponent’s pieces to capture them - the player who captures all enemy pieces wins.

How to start

In the quick setup:

Choose game mode - Local or Remote
- Local - one screen, one computer. Play a friend next to you or challenge the AI solo.
- Remote - play online from anywhere. Click Create game for a 6-digit code, share it, and your opponent joins instantly.
For Local setup:
- Pick a Ruleset: American (kings move one diagonal square at a time) or International (kings slide multiple squares, like a bishop).
- Set Red and Black to be a Human (you) or challenge the AI.
- If you choose the AI, pick the AI difficulty (1 (easy) - 5 (deep thinking)).
- After choosing sides and opponent, click Start game to start.
For Remote setup:
- Create Game:
  - Pick a Ruleset: American or International.
  - Choose your preferred side (Red / Black).
  - Press Create Game.
  - Pass the 6-digit code to your friend.
  - Wait for your friend to connect as well.
- Join Game:
  - Get the code from your friend (the creator of the game).
  - No need to touch the setup - the creator defines all params, including the ruleset.
  - Write the game code in the Code text box.
  - Press Join.
  - The game starts as soon as the connection is established.
- When a game ends, you can immediately start a new one with the same parameters, or change the configuration and try differently.

How to play

Click a piece to select it - valid moves are highlighted.
Regular pieces move one diagonal square forward only.
Capture an opponent’s piece by jumping over it to an empty square behind it.
Captures are mandatory - if you can capture, you must.
Chain captures: If after a jump another capture is possible, you must continue capturing in the same turn.
Reach the opponent’s back row to become a King - kings have extended movement.

Game rules

American rules:

Kings move and capture one diagonal square at a time (forward or backward).
Captures must be taken when available.

International rules:

Kings can travel any number of open diagonal squares (like a bishop in chess).
Kings can capture across multiple open diagonal squares in a single jump.
Captures must be taken when available.

Win: Capture all of your opponent’s pieces, or leave them with no legal moves.
