How to start

Choose game mode
- Vs AI (same screen): play a friend beside you or challenge SartabaAI.
- Vs. Friend (online): press Create game, share the 6-digit code, and your opponent joins.
Vs AI: set P1 and P2 to Human or SartabaAI, pick AI difficulty 1 to 5, then press Start game.
Vs. Friend: choose your side, press Create game or enter the code and press Join game. The game starts automatically when both players connect.

How to play

Each turn you do exactly one action: move your pawn or place a wall. You choose by what you interact with:

On desktop:

Move your pawn: Click your own pawn. Legal destination squares light up. Click a highlighted square to move there.
Place a wall: Hover over the gap between any two squares. A preview appears: cyan means legal, red means illegal. Click to place it.
Changed your mind? Click your pawn again to switch back to pawn-move mode at any time.

On mobile:

Move your pawn: Tap your pawn, then tap a highlighted destination square.
Place a wall by dragging: Long-press one of the wall pieces shown in the wall-supply strip, then drag it onto the board. Dragging left/right places a horizontal wall; dragging up/down places a vertical wall. Release to confirm.
Place a wall by tapping: Tap the board area where you want a wall preview to appear, then tap again to confirm placement.

Board orientation: P1 (light pawn, top) moves toward the bottom row. P2 (dark pawn, bottom) moves toward the top row. The wall-count strips show remaining walls: gold pips mean available, dim means spent.

Rules

Objective: reach any square on the opponent's starting row.

Pawn movement: one square orthogonally (up, down, left, right). No normal diagonal moves.

Jumping: if your opponent is directly adjacent, you may jump over them straight. If the straight jump is blocked by a wall or the board edge, you may jump sideways (Quoridor-style diagonal) instead.

Walls: each wall spans two square edges and permanently blocks movement across those edges for both players. Each player starts with 10 walls.

Path rule: a wall may never completely cut off a player from their goal. At least one open path must always remain. Illegal walls are rejected automatically.

Winning: first player whose pawn reaches any square on the opposite starting row wins.

AI levels

1 (Very Easy): mostly random, good for learning.
2 (Easy): basic evaluation with high randomness.
3 (Medium): balanced depth and learning. Default.
4 (Hard): deeper minimax, weighted learning. Requires sign-in.
5 (Expert): maximum depth, minimal randomness. Requires sign-in.

About Walls

Walls is a two-player strategic race built on a 9×9 board. Your pawn starts on one side and must reach the other, but your opponent has the same goal, and both players share a limited supply of walls to slow each other down.

The challenge is planning your own route while predicting and disrupting your opponent's. Every wall must be placed wisely: walls are finite, and a clear path must always remain open for both players.
